Plant Molecular Physiology Laboratory

Welcome to FUKAO Laboratory

Our laboratory has a special interest in the molecules involved in tolerance to mineral deficiency and heat stress in plant cells. We have also study agricultural method for higher accumulation of functional component and the molecular mechanisms of the grafting for crop cultivation.

Molecular mechanisms of mineral stress tolerance in plants

Zinc is an essential micronutrient for plant growth. We aim to understand the mechanisms of zinc homeostasis and tolerance in plants under zinc deficiency.

Molecular mechanisms of how do establish grafting in crops

The grafting is generally performed between same families. We aim to understand the mechanisms of
the interfamily grafting of tobacco plants.

The metabolic response to nutrient stress in plants (Yoshitake)

We aim to understand the mechanism of metabolic response (e.g. lipid metabolism autophagy) to nutrient stress.

Elucidation of the functions of plasma membrane nanodomains in plants (Nagano)

We aim to understand the roles and organization of “nanodomains”, which are nanoscale liquid-ordered domains on the plasma membrane in plants, and use them to improve plant functions.
